Craniosacral Shiatsu
Craniosacral Shiatsu (CSS) is a holistic, body-centred treatment method that combines the principles of shiatsu with craniosacral therapy. It addresses the various aspects of being human (physical, psychological and emotional).
Between the cranium (the skull) and the sacrum (the sacral bone) lies the craniosacral system: a network comprising both nerve pathways and energy channels, as well as pressure points.
In this system, the cerebrospinal fluid flows in a continuous cycle according to its own rhythm, the craniosacral rhythm.
This rhythm is regarded as the ‘breathing of the nervous system’ and is also referred to as the nervous system’s natural rhythm. As the nervous system influences the functioning of everything that happens in the body, the craniosacral rhythm is, alongside the heartbeat and breathing, the body’s third vital function. It also supports the functioning of other bodily systems, such as the circulatory, digestive and endocrine systems, …
CSS works at the craniosacral rhythm, using gentle touch, light pressure and subtle movements.
This affects energy flow and, via the nerves and connective tissue, the whole body as well. Connective tissue protects and supports all parts of the body. Health problems can arise when the connective tissue becomes restricted.
During a CSS treatment, blockages in the connective tissue are released, restoring its space and mobility. The tension around the central nervous system is relieved, thereby reducing pain.
CSS reduces tension-related symptoms and promotes deep relaxation of the connective tissue. It also ensures the smooth flow of energy through the energy channels (meridians). CSS focuses on restoring physical and emotional balance and on stimulating the body’s self-healing capacity.
Craniosacral Shiatsu reconnects all the layers of your body with the life energy (chi) that flows within you.
CSS complements all other forms of therapy and conventional care.
Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is recommended for this therapy.
